Belmont Charity Event Includes Auction Items

Description:

A European racing experience, an exotic tropical vacation, and field-level box seats to the World Series are among the auction items included in this year's Belmont Stakes Charity Celebration.

The June 5 event will once again be held at the Bar Americain in New York City and will feature "The Foods of Bobby Flay" and a live auction of unique items and experiences.

Among the auction items donated by sponsors are a European racing experience that includes tickets to the QIPCO British Champions Day and Irish Champions weekend, as well as a visit to Juddmonte Farms to meet the British racehorse-turned-stallion Frankel; a vacation at Tucker's Point Resort in Bermuda; field-level boxes to all of the 2014 World Series games played in the host park of the American League team; a vacation in a private villa at the Casa De Campo Resort in the Dominican Republic; a private fighter jet experience for two; tickets to the U.S. Open golf tournament; a New York City shopping experience; and stallion seasons to Mucho Macho Man, Lookin at Lucky  , and Medaglia d'Oro  .

Proceeds from the auction and the Belmont Stakes Charity Celebration benefit the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, which is the nation's leading source of private equine research funding and helps all breeds of horses; and the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation, which is the largest equine sanctuary in the world and is devoted to the rescue, retirement, rehabilitation and retraining of Thoroughbreds.

"This auction features some very unique items that should appeal to people who enjoy exotic travel experiences and various sports, including Thoroughbred racing," said Edward L. Bowen, president of Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation.

Bar Americain is located at 152 W. 52nd Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues in New York City.

Tickets cost $350 per person and can be purchased online at tinyurl.com/flaytix.
