The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission announced April 4 Steve May has been appointed supervisor of Pari-Mutuel Wagering and Compliance.
Since 2010 May has served as vice president and business manager of the Association of Racing Commissioners International. Prior to joining ARCI, May worked for Harness Tracks of America, Tioga Downs, and Rillito Park.
"The commission is fortunate and excited for Steve to join our team," said Marc Guilfoil, executive director of the KHRC. "He brings much experience and a deep knowledge of pari-mutuel wagering and the horseracing industry."
May will be responsible for all compliance matters related to pari-mutuel wagering and the entities involved, oversee and coordinate licensing and approvals, and create procedures to ensure compliance and auditing, the KHRC said in a release.
"I am excited to go to work for the commission," May said. "The KHRC is a leader in the industry and I look forward to helping maintain the integrity of horse racing in Kentucky."
May is a graduate of the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program, where he received the Distinguished Student Award in 2009.
