Nyquist Moves to Top of 3-Year-Old Poll

Nyquist captures Florida Derby
Reddam Racing's Nyquist moved to the top of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association poll of top 3-year-olds after his victory in the April 2 Xpressbet.com Florida Derby (gr. I).
Nyquist garnered 37 first-place points and 429 points overall in the poll released April 4. Mohaymen, who had previously topped the 3-year-old poll, dropped to fourth with 282 points following his fourth-place finish in the Florida Derby.
Undefeated filly Songbird (296 points) moved up a notch to second in advance of her start in the April 9 Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I), while TwinSpires.com Louisiana Derby (gr. II) winner Gun Runner (292 points) dropped to third.
In the Top Thoroughbred Poll, there was little change among the older horses. California Chrome remained on top for the fifth straight week with 44 first-place votes and 440 points. Nyquist (250 points) moved from eighth to third.
