In a field of accomplished turf runners, the talented Takeover Target could be the one to watch when he starts from the outside in the $100,000 Danger's Hour Stakes April 10 on the Aqueduct Racetrack grass.
Klaravich Stables and William Lawrence's Takeover Target will enter off a fourth-place finish in the Gulfstream Park Turf Handicap (gr. I) Feb. 6. That day the son of Harlan's Holiday raced a bit closer early in the race than usual, tracking from second into the stretch before fading.
Takeover Target closed out his 3-year-old season last year, when he rallied from fifth to register a clear victory in the Hill Prince Stakes (gr. IIIT) Oct. 3 on the soft inner turf at Belmont Park. Earlier in the year he rallied from fourth to win the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes (gr. IIT) at Saratoga Race Course.
Takeover Target is the 123-pound highweight, and if the race stays on turf, he'll spot all six of his rivals eight pounds.
Sunday's field also includes New York-bred Lubash, a two-time grade III winner who will try to add to his 11 career stakes wins. The consistent son of Freud will be making his 9-year-old season debut after winning four of his seven starts for trainer Christophe Clement last year.
Eight horses are entered for the Danger's Hour, but Send It In only will run if the race is moved to the main track.
