Chance Moquette: An Oaklawn Ambassador

Description:

Chance Moquett knows Oaklawn Park about as well as anyone: after all, he’s the son of trainer Ron Moquett, and Chance grew up around the Hot Springs, Ark., oval.
His experiences at Oaklawn have made Chance an evangelist for the track, and he wants to share his favorite place with as many people as possible.
“I just want to have people my age come out to the races and see what’s right down the road,” he said. “Having the opportunity to see horse racing at the highest levels is second to none to me. I wanted other people like me to realize that it’s here.”
That’s why Chance and his father, Ron, put together a video highlighting Oaklawn’s rich history, its iconic vistas, its legendary hospitality and its amazing horsemen.
Narrated by Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas, the video showcases everything Chance loves about Oaklawn.
“It’s the whole package here,” Chance explained. “The fans are incredible. There are always people rooting here, the trainers are around and available – you’re always able to hold conversations with them and ask how their horses are doing – and I want to showcase that and tell people that they should come and experience that, too.”
If you’re heading to Oaklawn for the first time this weekend, Chance has some recommendations on the best way to watch the races:
“I would hang out on the rail, I would go to the infield, I would find a bird’s-eye view. This place is so open and so accessible, you can find your spot and make your own memories, because this place will let you do it.”
