Jockey Club Improves Vet Record Archive

Owners who voluntarily decide to make their horse’s veterinary records public can now upload those records to a page hosted by horseracingreform.org, The Jockey Club announced today.
After an owner creates an account and verifies their e-mail address, they will be able to upload a horse’s veterinary records through the “Transparency” link on the website.
By creating an account, an owner’s name will immediately be added to the list of those who have decided to make public their horses’ veterinary records.
“We wanted to provide an easy and efficient way for owners to voluntarily make their horses’ veterinary records available to the public,” said Matt Iuliano, executive vice president and executive director of The Jockey Club. “Increasing transparency into our sport is an important element of our continuing efforts to build customer confidence in horseracing. As a resource designed to advocate for medication reform, safety and integrity, the Horse Racing Reform website is the perfect vehicle to make this possible.”
Owners can upload their horses’ records or request that an e-mail be sent to the horse’s trainer, enabling the trainer to upload the horse’s records. To date, 130 owners and farms have pledged to make public the veterinary records for their horses entered in graded stakes in the U.S. and Canada.
“We were encouraged by the response from a number of prominent Thoroughbred owners and trainers who pledged to make available to the public veterinary records of horses competing in graded stakes races in the United States and Canada,” said Iuliano. “With just a few clicks, owners or their trainers may quickly upload their veterinary records. We hope to see continued growth and support of this important transparency initiative.”
As of June 6, veterinary records for only nine horses have been made available. Records were posted for Longines Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) contenders Aurelia's Belle, Empress of Midway, Rosalind, and Unbridled Forever; and for Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) contenders Commanding Curve, Medal Count, and Uncle Sigh prior to these races. Vet records have been posted for Preakness Stakes (gr. I) entrants Dynamic Impact and Ring Weekend.
Veterinary records should include the 14-day period leading up to the day of the graded stakes race. To provide complete information, the records should be uploaded on the day of the race.
