During the April 14 under tack session for the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co’s spring 2-year-olds in training sale, a son of Shackleford breezed a quarter-mile in :20 2/5, the fastest at the distance so far during the first four of six workout sessions.
The colt consigned as Hip 790 by Ciaran Dunne’s Wavertree, named Chief Ruling, was produced from a winning half sister to San Juan Capistrano Handicap (gr. IT) winner Ringaskiddy and hails from a solid black-type family. The best furlong time Thursday of :09 4/5, equaling the best time during first three sessions, was shared by four fillies.
