Biondetti Filly Works Fastest Quarter at OBS

A filly from the first crop of French group I winner Biondetti   breezed a quarter-mile in :20 3/5 as the fastest worker at the distance April 11 during the first of six under tack show sessions leading up to the Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's April spring sale.

Bred in Florida by and consigned by Woodford Thoroughbreds as Hip 26, the dark bay or brown filly is a half sister to stakes-placed Phaniebdancing. The filly's dam, the Grand Slam mare Phanie Slam, is a half sister to two-time Evangeline Downs track record-setter Drill Hall, whose 16 career wins included a listed stakes at the Louisiana track..



A son of Bernardini   who won the Grand Criterium (Fr-I), Biondetti stands at Woodford Thoroughbreds near Reddick, Fla., for a fee of $4,000.



Six juveniles shared the quarter-mile second-fastest time of :20 4/5.



At the more popular eighth-mile distance, a Hard Spun   filly and an Old Fashioned   colt shared the fastest time of :9 4/5.



The Old Fashioned colt, consigned by Eisaman Equine as Hip 157, was produced from Scarlett, by Gone West. The mare is a half sister to multiple stakes winner and grade II-placed Happily Unbridled and to stakes winner Unbridled Praise.



Bred in Kentucky by Ken Page, the colt was bought as a weanlin by Back Straight Farm from the Taylor Made Sales Agency at the 2014 Keeneland November breeding stock sale for $50,000.

The Hard Spun filly, Hip 181, consigned by Bobby Dodd, agent, is out of stakes winner Shedoesrock, by Storm Boot, and is a half sister to multiple stakes winner Amaranth. Bred in Kentucky by H. Allen Poindexter and Machmer Hall, the filly was bought by Grand Oaks for $130,000 from the Machmer Hall consignment to the 2015 Keeneland September yearling sale.



There were 20 workouts at an eighth of a mile in :10.



The under tack show continues at 8:30 a.m. daily through April 16 for the sale that will be held April 19-22.
