Lady Stardust wins debut at Aqueduct Racetrack.

Freshman sire Union Rags  ' first progeny to race also became his first winner April 20 at Aqueduct Racetrack, where Brian Kahn's homebred Lady Stardust won impressively for trainer Wesley Ward.

A 2-year-old filly out of the Gilded Time mare Hallelujah Trail, Lady Stardust broke well in her debut going 4 1/2 furlongs on the Aqueduct main track and moved alongside early leader Holy Gold in the turn.

Still with work to do at the top of the stretch, Lady Stardust took command just inside the three-sixteenths pole and pulled away to win by 5 1/2 lengths as the favorite. She hit the wire in :52.08. Holy Gold, by Touch Gold, ran the first quarter in :22.56 and hung on for second, 2 1/2 lengths ahead of So Fancy (Tapit  ).

Lady Stardust was a $105,000 RNA at Keeneland's September yearling sale in 2015. Union Rags stands at Lane's End Farm near Versailles, Ky., for $35,000.
