Tranquility Lake, who won a pair of grade I races and produced a pair of grade I winners as a broodmare, has died at age 21.
A daughter of Rahy, Tranquility Lake won the 2000 Yellow Ribbon Stakes (gr. IT) at Santa Anita Park and the 1999 Gamely Breeders' Cup Handicap (gr. IT) at Hollywood Park. As a broodmare she would produce two-time grade I winner After Market and grade I winner Courageous Cat , as well as group II winner Jalil.
Owners Pam, Marty, and Max Wygod and Emily Wygod Bushnell, said they will greatly miss Tranquility Lake, who will be buried at Lane's End Farm near Versailles, Ky.
Tranquility Lake, who won a total of nine stakes and earned $1,662,390 in four seasons of racing, had one filly during her tenure as a broodmare, a 2014 daughter of Smart Strike named Meadowsweet. Meadowsweet is Tranquility Lake's final foal and currently is at San Luis Rey Downs being trained by Clifford W. Sise, Jr.
