With Donato Lanni signing the ticket, a Ghostzapper filly was acquired by Susan Chu’s Baoma Corporation for $720,000 at the final session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co.’s spring sale of 2-year-olds in training April 22.
The price was the highest of the session at the time.
Produced from the stakes-winning Freud mare Mighty Eros, the Florida-bred filly was one of three juveniles to breeze an eighth of a mile in the co-fastest time of :09 2/5 during the under tack workouts.
She will be trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert.
"She’s obviously a nice filly who worked great," Lanni said. "She has very good flesh. She did everything right."
Lanni said he would like to have gotten the filly for less, but noted "the nice ones are bringing good prices."
