Racing Restriction Lifted on One Fonner Barn

Description:

Fonner Park received some good news April 23 when the Nebraska Department of Agriculture lifted the racing restriction put in place for a second barn at the Grand Island track.

The racing restriction was lifted after a suspect horse's test results came back negative for equine herpesvirus (EHV-I).

Fonner Park is racing under a quarantine after three horses tested positive for herpesvirus myeloencephalopathy, the neurological form of equine herpesvirus. Horses located in the Red Barn, where the affected horses were stabled, are allowed to race.

The tests that came back negative for EHV-I April 22 were for a horse in a second barn.

Racing continues at Fonner with a post time of 1:30 p.m. CDT for April 23-24.
