First Reported Winner for Alexandros

Description:

Darley's France-based stallion Alexandros got his first winner June 8 at Angouleme racecourse when Olija captured a 1,000 meter (about five-furlong) race in her career debut.

Ridden by Lilly Le Pemp for trainer Thierry Lemer, Olija won by three lengths.

Bred in France by Francois Bayrou and owned by Ecurie Lafeu, Olija is out of the winning Kaldoun mare Pollys Dance, a half sister stakes winner Jump to You. Second dam Polly's Wika is a half sister to Solid Illusion, runner-up in the 1994 Prix du Jockey Club (Fr-I, French Derby), and stakes winner Jump to You.

Alexandros, a 9-year-old son of Kingmambo--Arlette, by King of Kings, posted an 8-6-5 career line from 28 starts and earnings of $1,227,317 for Godolphin. His record includes a victory as a juvenile in the 2007 Prix de Cabourg before a third in the Prix Morny (Fr-I). He also won the 2010 Al Rashidiya (UAE-III) and finished second in the 2009 Juddmonte Lockinge (Eng-I) and third in that year's Dubai Duty Free (UAE-I) among nine stakes-placings overall. He has 25 2-year-olds in his first crop and stands for a 2014 fee of €3,000 at Haras du Logis.
