Derrick Smith, Susan Magnier, and Michael Tabor's Minding led a top-three finish for the ownership team, trainer Aidan O'Brien, and the stallion Galileo in the QIPCO One Thousand Guineas (Eng-I) for 3-year-old fillies May 1 at Newmarket.
Minding, ridden by Ryan Moore, cover about one mile in 1:36.53 on turf rated good. The winner, bred in Ireland by Orpendale, Chelston & Wynatt, is now a three-time group I winner in only six starts; last year she captured the Moyglare Stud Stakes (Ire-I) and Dubai Fillies Mile (Eng-I).
Ballydoyle and Alice Springs, second and third, respectively, also are by Galileo.
"We were delighted with them all," O'Brien told the Irish Times. "They are three top-class fillies. It's a big team effort so it's great for everybody."
According to published reports the One Thousand Guineas is the 250th group or grade I win for O'Brien, who indicated the Investec Oaks (Eng-I) at Epsom could be next for Minding.
