Jerry and Ann Moss' Zenyatta, the 2010 Horse of the Year, was bred to Medaglia d'Oro the morning of May 2, according to Zenyatta.com, the mare's official website.
Zenyatta, a 12-year-old Street Cry mare who resides at Lane's End Farm near Versailles, Ky., will be checked in 15 days to determine whether she is in foal. Medaglia d'Oro stands for a fee of $150,000 at Darley outside of Lexington.
Zenyatta in early April produced a War Front colt, but he died a few days later due to complications related to meconium aspiration syndrome. Her first foal, the Bernardini colt Cozmic One, and second, the Tapit colt Ziconic, are in training and racing in California.
