Lady Aurelia, impressive track record-setter at Keeneland in her career debut, was scratched from the $100,000 Kentucky Juvenile Stakes at Churchill Downs May 5 to await the Queen Mary Stakes (Eng-II) at Royal Ascot.
The 8-5 morning-line favorite for the Kentucky Juvenile, Lady Aurelia went wire-to-wire to win her April 21 debut by 7 1/2 lengths, setting a track standard of :50.85 for 4 1/2 furlongs. A homebred daughter of Scat Daddy for Stonestreet Stables, Lady Aurelia is also co-owned by George Bolton and Peter Leidel.
“I did not want her to come up with a minor injury and knock us out of Royal Ascot,” trainer Wesley Ward said of the five-furlong Queen Mary on June 17. “She’s the overwhelming favorite for the race as of now.”
