Thrilled winning the Plum Pretty Stakes

The May 15 Selene Stakes (Can-III) at Woodbine drew a field of seven 3-year-old fillies, with the consistent runners Thrilled and Caren among them.

Thrilled, who is owned by Michael Tabor and trained by Todd Pletcher, won the Plum Pretty Stakes at Sunland Park March 20 in her most recent start, and is also graded stakes placed. She has finished first or second in all of her starts except last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (gr. IT), where she was 11th. With the exception of that race, the daughter of Uncle Mo   has primarily competed in listed stakes or at grade II and grade III level, so she has a good shot in the Selene as she moves back into graded stakes company.

Ontario-bred Caren, a daughter of Society's Chairman and owned by Robert Marzilli, won three Woodbine stakes at 2. This year she's placed once in two starts, having finished second in the May 1 Lady Angela Stakes in her most recent start, also at Woodbine. She has a record of 8-5-1-1 so far.

Gamble's Ghost is a grade III winner and is coming into the Selene off of a sixth-place finish in the Florida Oaks (gr. III) at Tampa Bay Downs in March. By Ghostzapper, the filly is owned by Ivan Dalos and trained by Josie Carroll.

Treasuring, a well-bred filly by Smart Strike from the family of Better Than Honour, won the Star Shoot Stakes in her last start April 16. She will be attempting graded stakes company for the third time, with her best finish at that level to date being a fourth place effort in the Santa Ynez (gr. II) earlier this year at Santa Anita. The filly is a homebred racing for John Sikura's Hill 'n' Dale Equine Holdings and is co-owned by Edward McGhee. She is also in Carroll's barn at Woodbine.

The field is rounded out by allowance winners Inconclusive and Niigon's Legacy, who are both stakes placed, and by maiden special weight winner Luckbe Tanya, who will be making her fourth lifetime start in the Selene.
