A pair of recent graded stakes winners in Kentucky are scheduled to try turf for the first time in the $100,000 Soaring Softly Stakes Saturday, May 21 at Belmont Park.
Up Hill Stable and Head of Plains Partners' Lightstream enters Saturday's seven-furlong turf test for 3-year-old fillies off a victory in the Adena Springs Beaumont Stakes (gr. III) at about seven furlongs on the Keeneland main track, while Magdalena Racing and Chris Sterbenz's Wonderment will try the grass for the first time after a recent win in the Bourbonette Oaks (gr. III) on the Turfway Park Polytrack.
Lightstream improved to two wins in as many starts when she rallied from fourth to win the Beaumont April 17 at Keeneland. Conditioned by Brian Lynch, the Harlan's Holiday filly will pick up a new rider in Eric Cancel after being guided by Julien Leparoux in her first two races.
After winning the Bourbonette April 2, New York-bred Wonderment finished seventh in a New York Stallion Stakes race April 23 on the Aqueduct Racetrack main track. Trained by Ken McPeek, the daughter of Cosmonaut retains Cornelio Velasquez for a fourth straight race.
The race has attracted ten entries, although two of the fillies are entered as main-track-only.
