Fasig-Tipton to Conduct Two Sales July 14

Fasig-Tipton has announced plans for a full day of auction activities July 14, when it holds the annual yearling and summer selected horses of racing age sales at its Newtown Paddocks headquarters in Lexington.
With an increase in offerings to 265 cataloged this year, the sale of selected yearlings begins at 10 a.m. The auction was recently ranked second among major North American yearling sales by percentage of graded stakes winners produced from horses offered in data compiled by The Blood-Horse's MarketWatch newsletter. It trailed only Fasig-Tipton's Saratoga sale.
The yearling sale catalog is now available online and via the equineline catalog app, with print catalogs available from all Fasig-Tipton offices by Monday, June 16.
The horses of racing age sale will be held immediately following the yearling sale, with that catalog available online July 1 and print catalogs available on sale grounds at the time of the sale. Fasig-Tipton said it had received a significant number of entries into the sale that has a flexible online format allowing for entries to continue to be accepted until a week before the event.
According to Fasig-Tipton, graduates of last year's inaugural horses of racing age auction have tallied 47 wins, including 11 stakes victories, and garnered more than $1.7 million in earnings from nearly 300 starts.
Both sales will include horses from the dispersal of Eugene Melnyk's racing stable and breeding stock. The yearling sale will include 10 mares, four weanlings, and five yearlings from the Melnyk dispersal, and 23 2-year-olds and approximately 30 horses of racing age from Melnyk's operations will be included in the horses of racing age catalog.
"Monday, July 14 is a day of selling not to be missed," said Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning in a release. "Firstly, we have an outstanding group of yearlings to showcase to buyers, as well as a larger horses of racing age catalog as we build on last year's successes. Moreover, the Melnyk dispersal will add extra excitement as buyers will have access to bloodlines and racing quality rarely exposed to the public market. There will be something for everyone at Fasig-Tipton this July."
