JRHA Releases Select Sale Catalog

The JRHA Select Sale has 243 foals catalogued for the foal session.

The Japan Racing Horse Association announced May 24 it has cataloged 248 yearlings and 243 foals for the JRHA Select Sale July 11-12 at Northern Horse Park near New Chitose Airport on Hokkaido.

The sale includes the progeny of first-crop yearling sires Orfevre, Lord Kanaloa, and Novellist as well as the first foals by Just a Way, the world's highest rated horse in 2014. Other top sires represented include proven stallions Deep Impact, Heart's Cry, King Kamehameha, and Screen Hero, all of whom have had top performers at recent international events, including A Shin Hikari, Real Steel, Duramente, Nuovo Record, and Maurice.

Cumulative results for the JHRA sale have seen regular gains in average price since 2011 and only one slip in median in the past five years, which occurred with a 1.2% decline in 2013. The overall results in 2015 produced a 7.4% gain in average to ¥33,435,279 (US$329,880) and a 13.6% rise in median to ¥25 million ($246,655). 

The 2015 yearling session was the strongest it has been since 2011, producing a 20.7% gain in average to ¥33,830,952 ($333,783) and a 25% rise in median to ¥25 million.

Complete catalog pages with black-type information will become available on the website by May 29, and the printed catalogs will be sent out by June 4.
