Gulfstream Park will offer $525,000 in purses over seven stakes June 4 as part of its Summit of Speed Preview Day program.
The Summit of Speed, which began at Calder Casino & Race Course and was transferred to Gulfstream after that track ceased summer racing, is scheduled for July 2. There will be three graded stakes: the $250,000 Princess Rooney (gr. II), $250,000 Smile Sprint (gr. II), and $150,000 Carry Back (gr. III).
The Princess Rooney and the Smile Sprint are designated Breeders' Cup World Championships "Win & You're In" races for the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint and Breeders' Cup Sprint (both gr. I), respectively.
The July 2 program also offers six $100,000 stakes: the Azalea, Bob Umphrey Turf Sprint, Miesque's Approval, Spook Express, Birdonthewire, and Cassidy.
The June 4 Preview Day card is highlighted by the Sea Lily Stakes, a six-furlong Princess Rooney prep for fillies and mares that drew 12 nominees, including grade 1 stakes-placed Kiss to Remember; and the Parrot Key Stakes, a six-furlong Smile Sprint prep that has eight nominees, including Requite, a two-time winner at Gulfstream who finished second in the Amsterdam Stakes (gr. II) at Saratoga Race Course last summer.
Other stakes on the card are the Royal Palm, a 6 1/2-furlong event for 3-year-old fillies (16 nominations); Big Cypress, a 6 1/2 -furlong race for 3-year-olds (11 nominations); Bonita, a five-furlong turf sprint for 3 year-olds and up (18 nominations); Amelia Island, a one-mile turf event for fillies and mares (25 nominations); and Raymond Earl, a one-mile turf race for 3-year-olds and up (20 nominations).
