Catch a Glimpse wins the 2016 Edgewood Stakes.

Canadian Horse of the Year Catch a Glimpse is nominated to three stakes the weekend of June 4-5, but trainer Mark Casse said the winner of five consecutive stakes probably will face males in the $500,000 Penn Mile (gr. IIIT).

The Penn Mile, for 3-year-olds, is part of the biggest program of the year at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course the evening of June 4. Catch a Glimpse, owned by Gary Barber, Michael James Ambler, and Windways Farm, also is nominated to the $200,000 Penn Oaks at one mile on the turf.

Casse also nominated Catch a Glimpse, winner of last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (gr. IT), to the $200,000 Wonder Again Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/8 miles on the turf at Belmont Park June 5.

"I know we're going to Penn (National), I just don't necessarily know which race yet," Casse said May 27. "But looking at her numbers, it's more than likely she's running in the colt race."

Given the fact Belmont June 4 will offer the $200,000 Pennine Ridge Stakes (gr. IIIT) for 3-year-olds at 1 1/8 miles on the grass, it remains to be seen which horses race at Penn National. Not surprisingly, many horses are nominated for both the Penn Mile and Pennine Ridge.

Catch a Glimpse, bred by Branch Equine in Kentucky out of the Irish River mare Halo River, finished fifth in her career debut sprinting on the dirt at Saratoga Race Course, but since then has won six in a row, all on the turf. In her last start, Catch a Glimpse won the Edgewood Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Churchill Downs.

Casse said the $1 million Belmont Oaks Invitational (gr. IT) for 3-year-old fillies July 9 at Belmont is the near-term goal for Catch a Glimpse. That race is at 1 1/4 miles on the grass.
