One day after the Winning Colors Stakes (gr. III) at Churchill Downs produced a dead heat for win, the Green Carpet Stakes at Belterra Park Gaming, located about 90 minutes away in Ohio, did the same May 29.
The $75.000 Green Carpet, for Ohio-bred 3-year-olds on the grass, had two winners: Blazing Meadows Farm's Bucket Beat and Thomas Holyfield's Linda's Luck. Bucket Beat had a head advantage on Linda's Luck at the stretch call, but the latter fought back to finish on even terms.
Bucket Beat, a Giant Oak gelding bred by Sheltowee Farm and trained by Tim Hamm, was ridden by Irwin Rosendo at 11-1. Linda's Luck, a Lookin At Lucky colt bred by Meadow Springs Stables and trained by Jeff Radosevich, was ridden by Luis Rivera at 30-1. My Pardner Cal was a length back in third, while favored Weavers Ice Cold finished fifth.
The final time for 1 1/16 miles on a turf course rated firm was 1:42.27.
In the May 28 Winning Colors for fillies and mares, John Oxley's Diva Express and Glenmare Farm's I'm a Looker finished in a dead heat for the win in 1:09.49 for six furlongs on a track rated fast.
