Kentucky-Bred Wins Lucrative Race in Russia

Lucky First, a 4-year-old son of Curlin  , won Russia's most lucrative race June 11 at the Central Moscow Hippodrome.

Bred by Becky Winemiller, Lucky First won the $291,000 President of the Russian Federation Stakes at 2,400 meters (about 1 1/2 miles). He is campaigned by Sergey Bondarenko and A. M. Uzdenov.

Consigned by Brookdale Sales, agent, at the 2011 Keeneland September yearling sale, Lucky First was purchased for $19,000 by John Black. He is out of the Sadler's Wells mare Dragon Fly.

Second dam Luna Blue is a half sister to French champion Long Mick, French champion, classic winner, and leading sire Linamix, and French group I winner Luna Wells.
