Headed by 79 horses from Sheikh Mohammed’s Godolphin, a total of 873 lots have been cataloged for the Tattersalls July 6-8 sale, the largest number since 2008 and up from last year’s 804-horse catalog at the Newmarket, England auction.
Included in the offerings are 667 horses and fillies in or out of training, 204 broodmares—13 of which have foals of 2016 at their side—and two yearlings.
Godolphin’s offerings include two group I-winning mares—Favourable Terms, a 16-year-old daughter of Selkirk in foal to Darley stallion Slade Power; and Emotion Parade, a three-time group I winner in Argentina in foal to Brazen Beau.
Other high-powered breeding entities with large consignments at the July sale include Shadwell (51 head), Juddmonte Farms (40), and Cheveley Park Stud (17).
“We have cataloged almost 900 lots for this year’s Tattersalls July sale and, as well as being the largest July sale since 2008, it is a catalog of real quality and diversity,” said Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony. “The July sale is a proven source of group I performers and the classic July sale combination of quality breeding stock and promising horses in training looks set to attract the usual mix of domestic and international buyers.”
The sale, which coincides with the three-day race meet at Newmarket racecourse, begins with broodmares and continues with horses in training.
