Of the three Triple Crown races, it’s hard to top the Belmont Stakes when it comes to potential for longshot winners and huge payoffs. Since 2000, we’ve seen horses win the Belmont at odds of 18-1, 70-1, 36-1, 38-1, 11-1, 13-1, 24-1, and 13-1—in other words, since 2000 there’s been a 50 percent chance of having a horse win the Belmont at 10-1 or more, so it pays to keep an eye out for live longshots.
