French sales company Arqana has cataloged 375 yearlings for its Aug. 14-16 sale in Deauville that has been represented by recent group I winners Almanzor, Qemah, Belardo, and Jemayel, among others.
Almanzor won the Prix du Jockey-Club (Fr-I), Qemah impressed in the Coronation Stakes (Eng-I) at Royal Ascot, 2014 champion 2-year-old Belardo scored another group I victory in the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes,and Jemayel won the Coolmore Prix Saint-Alary (Fr-I).
The sale is divided into two parts, with Part I selling Aug. 14-15 and Part II Aug. 16.
According to Arqana, there are 134 black-type first dams of yearlings—36% of those catalogued—with 30 first dams being group winners.
Among the most prominent sires represented by yearlings in the sale are Dubawi, the sire of last year’s €2.6 million sale-topper who has one this year, and Galileo, Coolmore’s leading sire who has five cataloged. There are also nine yearlings from the second crop of undefeated Frankel and two sired by Ashford Stud’s late stallion Scat Daddy .
