NYRA Pays Out Superfectas After Error

Description:

After the completion of the eighth race at Belmont Park July 1, an error was made in regards to the order of finish, according to the New York Racing Association.

As a result, NYRA will pay out both the "official" and "actual" superfecta for the eighth race, although a news release from the organization did not specify which result was "official" and which was "actual."

According to the Equibase race chart, Akatea (1) won the 1 1/16-mile optional-claiming allowance turf race by a half-length, ahead of Now Power (4) and Jc's Shooting Star (5), who finished in a dead heat for second. Coming Attraction (2) nosed out Paige (3) for fourth. Multiple advance-deposit wagering platforms have Paige listed as the fourth-place finisher.

The New York Board of Stewards will conduct an investigation into the circumstances that led to the error. A statement from NYRA said the "immediate action (is) for the benefit of our horseplayers and to avoid any further confusion or ambiguity on this matter."

Below are the payouts for the $2 superfecta, according to NYRA:

1-4-5-2: $114.00

1-4-5-3: $138.00

1-5-4-2: $117.00

1-5-4-3: $138.40
