Danish Dynaformer wins Singspiel Stakes

Charles Fipke's homebred Canadian classic winner Danish Dynaformer found success with some class relief in the $133,119 Singspiel Stakes (Can-IIIT) July 3 at Woodbine

The 4-year-old Dynaformer colt came from off the pace to win by one length from grade I winner Hardest Core, with Aldous Snow third while bidding for a third successive victory in the 1 1/2-mile race.

Danish Dynaformer, ridden by Patrick Husbands for trainer Roger Attfield, covered the distance in 2:27.20 on a course rated firm. Victorious in last year's Breeders' Stakes after a runner-up finish in the Queen's Plate, he earned his first graded win in Sunday's race, which followed a trio of unsuccessful grade I tries—most recently his sixth in the Woodford Reserve Turf Classic (gr. IT) at Churchill Downs May 7—following his classic triumph by 7 3/4 lengths in the Breeders' Stakes at Woodbine last August.

Money Talker was out to lead early, setting fractions of :26.79 and :51.40 for a half-mile, as Hardest Core stalked from second, two to three lengths back. It was about seven lengths back to Mr Grumpy in third and Danish Dynaformer rating in fourth and fifth, nine lengths behind the front-runner.

As Danish Dynaformer began his advance, Hardest Core closed in on Money Talker on the turn and put his head in front at the quarter-pole, where the winner was poised in third and ultimately proved too good after leading past the three-sixteenths pole.

Danish Dynaformer, who gave Attfield a seventh win in the race, paid $5.80, $3.30, and $2.20, Hardest Core returned $4.90 and $3.80, and Aldous Snow paid $3.80 to show. Generous Kitten was fourth, followed by Money Talker, Ami's Holiday, and Mr Grumpy.

Bred in Ontario, Danish Dynaformer, who is out of the Danehill mare Danish Wildcat, has five wins from 14 starts and $641,554 in earnings.
