Can the Man wins the 2014 Affirmed Stakes.

Spendthrift Farm stallion Can the Man  , whose first North American offspring are foals of 2016, will not shuttle to B. Wayne Hughes satellite facility in Australia for the upcoming Southern Hemisphere season, the farm announced July 3.

The Victorian-based farm said it will waive the 2015 service fee for all breeders who supported Can the Man in his first season a year ago. Spendthrift Australia has also held discussions with all "Share The Upside" program participants of Can The Man to receive a complimentary service to one of its other stallions in 2016, as well as other future considerations, in addition to waiving the 2015 service fee.

"In our inaugural season last year, we brought in a diverse group of what we thought were four young and exciting stallion prospects to offer Australian breeders," Hughes said in a press release. "Can the Man is a precocious and exceptional-looking son of our up-and-coming sire Into Mischief  , and he's been well received in America. However, he simply was not as well received in Australia, so we did not feel it would be to anyone's advantage to bring him back in 2016."

Can the Man, a grade III winner out of Smolensk, by Danzig, bred 114 mares during his first season at the Kentucky farm last year, according to The Jockey Club's report of mares bred.

"Spendthrift will always strive to put the breeders' best interests first, and we will continue to try, and offer stallions and programs, from which the breeders of Australia can prosper, " Hughes said.  "We have reached out to those who supported Can the Man, and we are pleased to have the opportunity to offer breeders a beneficial solution in a rare case like this, when things don't work out."

Can The Man, who stood this year's Northern Hemisphere season for $3,500, stood his first season in Australia in 2015 for a fee of $3,850, including goods and services tax.

Spendthrift Australia's 2016 stallion roster will include Hampton Court ($8,800 including GST), Jimmy Creed   ($8,800 including GST), and Warrior's Reward ($11,000 including GST).
