Promising Fillies Target Christiana Stakes

Trainers Arnaud Delacour and Graham Motion each entered two in the $50,000 Christiana Stakes, which will offer a look at many promising 3-year-old fillies should the 1 1/16-mile event remain on the turf July 6 at Delaware Park.

Delacour entered Dr. Catherine Wills homebred Involuntary (by City Zip  ), who won her first two starts before a disqualification from third in the Penn Oaks, and Polivka Equine Holdings, Rick Marcoux, and Dan Kjorsvik's Strong Gale (by Discreetly Mine), a maiden winner on dirt in her last start at Delaware Park. The Christiana attracted a field of 13.

"Both of these fillies are doing very well," Delacour said. "This is a good time to try them versus stakes company. They are both eligible for two-other-than in allowance conditions, but it is tough to run them in that condition because many times they will be facing older horses."

Motion entered Pin Oak Stable's Conscription (by War Front  ), who broke her maiden going long on the grass at Pimlico Race Course last time out, and Augustin Stable's It's the Truth, a Yes It's True filly who has won twice on dirt and would make her turf debut in the Christiana.
