Top Turf Sprinters Entered in Parx Dash

A pair of sharp turf sprinters owned by Colts Neck Stables, along with The Jim Stable's Ben's Cat and recent grade III winner Pure Sensation, are among 10 horses entered in the $200,000 Parx Dash (gr. IIIT) for 3-year-olds and up July 9 at Parx Racing.

The Dash, at five furlongs on the turf, is race eight on the Saturday program. Four of the 10 entered are coming off victories in stakes or allowance races.

The Colts Neck Stables entrants are Take Cover, a 4-year-old War Front   colt who won the Pennsylvania Governor's Cup at five furlongs on grass June 4 at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, and Pool Winner, a 4-year-old Broken Vow   gelding who captured an allowance test at five-eighths of a mile on the turf at Parx and has two wins and a second in three starts on the local course.

Take Cover defeated three horses entered in the Dash in the Governor's Cup, including Ben's Cat, while homebred Pool Winner in his last win defeated Fast Flying Rumor, who is also entered in the Dash.

Ben's Cat, a 10-year-old Parker's Storm Cat gelding, won his first two starts of 2016—an open allowance event at Laurel Park and the Jim McKay Turf Sprint at Pimlico Race Course before his close third-place finish at Penn National. Ben's Cat seeks his 33rd career victory and has a record of five wins, two seconds, and a third at Parx.

Patricia Generazio's homebred gelding Pure Sensation, a 5-year-old by Zensational, won the Jaipur Invitational (gr. IIIT) at six furlongs on the turf at Belmont Park June 11 and is one-for-one going five furlongs on the grass at Parx; he won the Turf Monster Stakes (gr. IIIT) last September.
