Euro Charline Retired, to Sell in December

Euro Charline, the first 3-year-old to capture the Beverly D. Stakes (gr. IT) for fillies and mares in 2014 at Arlington International Racecourse, has been retired from racing and will be entered in the Tattersalls December sale, owner Team Valor International said July 6.

Euro Charline, also second in three group I events and third in another, earned $2,352,563. The 5-year-old mare by Myboycharlie out of the Common Grounds mare Eurolink Artemis was bred in Great Britain by Brian Liversage.

"In the lead up to the group I Falmouth Stakes (July 8), she has done a tendon breezing on the all-weather gallop, which last week took a lot of rain," Team Valor chief executive officer Barry Irwin said in a release.

In three starts this year, Euro Charline finished second three times including twice against males in the $6 million Dubai Turf (UAE-I) and the Lockinge Stakes (Eng-I) at Newbury in her last start. She retires with a Timeform master rating of 119 and as the highest earning filly or mare in Team Valor history.

Marco Botti, who trained Euro Charline and will consign her for the Tattersalls sale, said: "Euro Charline was one of the best horses I have trained. She was not the luckiest horse to be fair, and a couple of her seconds very well could have been firsts. While her family is not out of the top drawer, she will prove popular with breeders at the sale because she looks the part."
