Moiety wins at Arlington International July 8.

Godolphin homebred Moiety, who was a promising filly at 2 but suffered a setback, made her career debut July 8 at Arlington International Racecourse and delivered with a four-length win over six other 3-year-old fillies in a maiden special weight event.

Trained by Eoin Harty, Moiety, by Darley stallion Bernardini  , grabbed the early lead under Edgar Perez and gradually pulled away to win the 6 1/2-furlong Polytrack race in 1:16.89. Every Moment was second and Zaphical third.

"I was a bit concerned I didn't have her tight enough for this today," Harty told Arlington media officials. "I missed a work and she was a little slow coming away from the gate, but usually when they're good enough they don't need any excuses."

Moiety is out of the Ghadeer mare Be Happy, a Brazilian-bred winner of a group I and group II stakes in Brazil and champion filly in her 2- and 3-year-old seasons. Two of the mare's full siblings by Ghadeer out of Honey Chris won group stakes in Brazil.

"I always thought she was one of the better 2-year-olds I had up here last year," Harty said of Moiety. "I can't remember what went wrong with her—she  may have had a chip in her ankle; something really minor. She came back every bit as good as she was last year.

"She's a little bit long in her pasterns, (and) I think that's why she does so well on the synthetic. I'd like to keep her on the synthetic or the turf for her next start—maybe think about dirt down the road—but for her immediate future I think she'll probably come back on the synthetic. She doesn't look like a two-turn horse, she looks like a sprinter but I'll probably stretch her out a bit."
