There was excitement at the Fasig-Tipton July selected sale of horses of racing age July 11 when grade III winner Donegal Moon was presented late in the evening, but the colt left the ring unsold after bidding reached $1.6 million.

The 3-year-old son of Malibu Moon  , last-out winner of the Betfair.com Pegasus Stakes (gr. III) June 19 at Monmouth Park,  was a late entry into the sale with a 3-1-1 record from 11 career starts and earnings of $199,252. He was offered by Taylor Made Sales Agency on behalf of Donegal Racing.

Bred by Patchen Wilkes Farm in Kentucky, Donegal Moon was a $220,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase in 2014 by Jerry Crawford and Donegal Racing. His dam is the Giant's Causeway mare Perfect Cause, a daughter of champion turf female Possibly Perfect.
