Eutrophia Farm Horses Popular at F-T

Topped by the Storm Cat mare Kitness, the dispersal of horses owned by Elisabeth “Betty” Alexander’s Eutrophia Farm grossed $1,673,000 during the Fasig-Tipton July selected horses of racing age sale.

Purchased by I Green for $205,000, the 8-year-old Kitness is a winning daughter of the Devil’s Bag mare Firmness, a half sister to group or graded stakes winners Della Francesca and Caress, the latter the dam of grade I winner and sire Sky Mesa. Also selling with Kitness was her March 13 colt by Candy Ride  .

Offered by Taylor Made Sales Agency, as agent, the 22 horses from the dispersal included mares and foals, yearlings, 2-year-olds, and horses of racing age.

Alexander and her late husband, Quentin, were consistently among the leading owners and breeders in Ohio. The best horse bred and/or raced by the Alexanders, who operated a 200-acre farm near Hunting Valley, Ohio, was Magna Graduate  , who earned more than $2.5 million and won graded stakes at five different tracks. The couple also bred and/or raced five Ohio champions.

During the early portion of the HRA sale following the Eutrophia dispersal, grade I winner Stormy Lucy was bought back on a final bid of $650,000. The 7-year-old Stormy Atlantic mare was consigned as Hip 430 by Taylor Made.
