The Bed o’ Roses Handicap at Belmont Park on Saturday is a 7-furlong, Grade 3 race for fillies and mares four years old and older, and it looks like a wide-open race filled with good betting opportunities.
Lightly raced long shot Ultimate Shopper looks to be a freakish speedball. She drops 11 pounds off her last race and is 2-for-2 at the Bed o’ Roses distance. If Ultimate Shopper breaks well, she could lead from start to finish.
Street Girl is the class of this bunch, having run in Grade 1s against division leaders Beholder and Close Hatches. She was last seen day finishing second in the Grade 1 Humana Distaff Stakes, which makes her a logical choice to play.
Merry Meadow is a picture of consistency having finished in the top three in 18 of 20 starts, including all seven of her races at Belmont. I wouldn't be surprised if she won this race.
Class Point, who finished last of six in the 1 1/16-mile, Grade 1 Ogden Phipps Stakes on Belmont Stakes day, returns to sprinting, which is her preference. I’m using this this graded stakes-placed runner in my exotics.
