Freshman sire Dialed In gained his first black-type winner when Ruffenuff set the pace and won the $50,000 Princess Margaret Stakes by 6 3/4 lengths in her debut July 16 at Northlands Park.
An 8-year-old son of Mineshaft , Dialed In stands at John Phillips' Darby Dan Farm near Lexington, where his 2016 fee was $7,500. He is out of the multiple stakes-producing Storm Cat mare Miss Doolittle, who is a daughter of 1992 champion 2-year-old filly Eliza. There are 102 2-year-olds in his first crop.
Dialed In retired to stud with a record of 3-1-0 from seven starts and earnings of $941,936. His victories include the 2011 Florida Derby (gr. I) and Holy Bull Stakes (gr. III), both at Gulfstream Park.
Curtis Landry and Red Diamond Stables' Ruffenuff was never challenged in the Princess Margaret and finished the six-furlong contest in 1:13.01 for trainer Greg Tracy. The filly out of the Forestry mare Augusta Queen was bred in Kentucky by Nicholas Lotz and sold to Landry for $47,000 at the 2015 Keeneland September yearling sale, where she was presented by Darby Dan as agent.
