Gun Runner wins Matt Win Stakes at Churchill
Gun Runner and Creator both worked five furlongs in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., July 18 as they continue preparation for their next starts for trainer Steve Asmussen.
Winchell Thoroughbreds, Three Chimneys Farm, and Besilu Stables' Gun Runner, a three-time graded stakes winner, breezed in :59 4/5, fastest of 10 at the distance, on the fast Oklahoma Training Track. The Candy Ride colt is being pointed to the July 31 Betfair.com Haskell Invitational (gr. I) at Monmouth Park.
WinStar Farm's Creator, winner of the Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (gr. I), breezed in 1:01 4/5, fifth-fastest of 20 at the distance, on the fast main track at Saratoga Race Course. The Tapit colt is expected to resurface in the July 30 Jim Dandy Stakes (gr. II) at Saratoga.
