The respective top three finishers in the Queen's Plate Stakes—Sir Dudley Digges, Amis Gizmo, and All On Red—are set to face off in the $500,000 Prince of Wales Stakes July 26 at Fort Erie.
The 1 3/16-mile race on dirt, second jewel in Canada's Triple Crown for Canadian-foaled 3-year-olds, attracted a field of eight.
Ken and Sarah Ramsey's Sir Dudley Digges won the Queen's Plate, the series' first leg run on the all-weather surface July 3 at Woodbine, at 15-1 odds when powering past favorite Amis Gizmo late to capture his first stakes victory win and second win overall in nine career starts.
"Sir Dudley Digges has been training and all is well with the horse," trainer Mike Maker said of the son of Gio Ponti who will break from the outside post with Julien Leparoux.
Ivan Dalos' Amis Gizmo is a five-time stakes winner, including the June 12 Plate Trial, in which Sir Dudley Digges was third. The son of Giant Gizmo had a clear lead at the top of the stretch in the Queen's Plate after pressing the pace down the backstretch but Sir Dudley Digges came on too strong in the stretch, defeating him by a half length.
Trainer Jose Carroll has tapped Louis Contreras for a return call.
All On Red has placed in three of four career starts, earning a win to break his maiden in his second lifetime start at Aqueduct Racetrack in April for previous trainer Michelle Nevin. He was second next time out at Woodbine, his start prior to the Queen's Plate, and a game stretch rally in the classic propelled the son of Hard Spun to third.
Sid Attard trains JMJ Racing Stable's All On Red, who will break from the post 2 with Eurico Rosa da Silva.
The field also includes Harrell Ventures' Battery, a Bernardini colt who has won two of six starts for trainer Todd Pletcher, who has trained two previous Prince of Wales winners: Harlem Rocker in 2008 and Archer's Bay in 1998.
