Fair Eva First Stakes Winner for Frankel

Juddmonte Farms' unbeaten champion Frankel reached an important milestone as a freshman sire July 23 when daughter Fair Eva won the Princess Margaret Juddmonte Stakes (Eng-III) at Ascot, providing him with his first stakes winner.

Frankel, an 8-year-old son of Galileo—Kind, by Danehill, stands at Juddmonte's Banstead Manor Stud near Newmarket where his 2016 fee was £125,000. He has 108 2-year-olds in his first crop, which thus far has yielded seven winners from 10 starters and three stakes-placed runners.

A Juddmonte homebred, Frankel won 14 races from as many starters and equalled the world record for consecutive group I wins with nine. He was the continent's Horse of the Year in 2011 and 2012 and holds the highest-ever Timeform rating of 147.

Fair Eva, Frankel's first runner owned and bred by Juddmonte, won Saturday's race by four lengths as the 4-6 favorite with Frankie Dettori aboard. Off the pace early, she raced outside the field before taking charge over a furlong out, then drawing off. She covered six furlongs in 1:12.54 on good to firm turf.

Fair Eva is perfect in two starts for trainer Roger Charlton and broke her maiden by the same margin June 9 at Haydock.

A fourth generation Juddmonte hombred, Fair Eva is one of two winners out of Observatory's group I-winning winning sprinter African Rose, a full sister to group III winner and group I-placed Helleborine. Her dam is a half sister to 1999 Dewhurst Stakes (Eng-I) winner Distant Music. This is also the family of 1985 U.S. champion older male Vanlandingham.

"Form is one thing but class is another and Fair Eva really showed that," Juddmonte racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe told Channel 4 Racing.
