Lady Shipman Seeks Graded Win at Woodbine

Multiple stakes winner Lady Shipman will look to secure her first graded stakes win in the $150,000 Royal North Stakes (gr. IIIT) July 31 at Woodbine.

The 4-year-old from the barn of Kiaran McLaughlin has won three of her five starts this year, all in stakes. She also placed second in last year's TwinSpires Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (gr. IT), her best finish in a graded race. Owned by Ranlo Investments and bred by Randall Lowe, the Midshipman   filly will enter the gate off of a fifth-place effort in the Highlander Stakes (gr. IIT).

Cactus Kris is a multiple graded stakes winner from the barn of Ryan Walsh, owned by Anne Walsh and bred by James Paliafito and Tom Keegan. She has won two graded stakes at Woodbine, the May 8 Hendrie Stakes (gr. III) and last October's Ontario Fashion Stakes (gr. III). She is coming off of a second-place finish in the Satin and Lace Stakes June 19 at Presque Isle Downs.

River Maid is a stakes winner from the barn of Robert Tiller who is on a four-race win streak and has competed exclusively at Woodbine. The 4-year-old filly owned by The Very Dry Stable was bred by Jay Cochlin and won the Ballade Stakes in her last start June 4.

Mississippi Delta, trained by Mark Casse, is a stakes winner who has won three of her six Woodbine starts. Owned by breeder Mike Rutherford in partnership with Jackpot Ranch, the Giant's Causeway filly placed second in the Nassau Stakes (gr. IIT) May 29. She finished fourth in her last start, the Perfect Sting Stakes at Belmont Park July 2.

Rounding out the field is multiple stakes winner Silent Treat; stakes winners Josdesanimaux, Starless Night, and Disco Barbie; and allowance winners Rapid Rhythm and She's Explosive.
