TOBA to Host Two Seminars in Saratoga Springs

Description:

The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association is hosting a Pedigree and Conformation Clinic Aug. 8-9 and an Ownership Seminar Aug. 12 at the Fasig-Tipton sales pavilion and Saratoga Race Course, respectively.

The two-day long Pedigree and Conformation Clinic is placed on the same days as Fasig-Tipton's selected yearling sale. The seminar features resources for owners, breeders, and agents, basic conformation terms and sports medicine, TOBA initiatives and programs, live conformation analysis of yearlings, sales perspectives from the viewpoints of consignor/agent and buyer/trainer, pedigree theories and catalog page analysis, scope and repository report examples and translation, stride analysis, live older horse conformation evaluation, trainer's perspectives, public auction history, new buying techniques and technology, and breaking and training.

The second clinic is hosted at the racetrack and covers business elements in the racing industry: networking, trainer relationships and viewpoints, state-bred programs and development funds, retirement, research information sources, acquisition, sales, claiming, sports medicine, legalities and setting up partnerships, as well as an afternoon at the races that includes clubhouse seats and a guest handicapper.

"Saratoga is often referred to as vacationland, Valhalla, the Spa, etc. so being able to host two events like this in concurrence with the select sale and a great day of live racing is an unbeatable opportunity. We're excited to spend a few days speaking with industry professionals, our evenings watching the sale, and naturally a top day of racing too," said Aly Strainer, TOBA director of membership and marketing. "Although registration in advanced is encouraged, all are welcome and we have special rates for students."

All materials, meals, tickets and seating are included.
