Ahh Chocolate wins Allaire du Pont at Pimlico

Stoneway Farm's homebred Ahh Chocolate looks to bounce back from a fifth-place finish in the Fleur de Lis Stakes (gr. II) when she returns for the $100,000 Groupie Doll Stakes (gr. III) Aug. 6 at Ellis Park.

The 4-year-old Candy Ride   filly finished 10 1/2 lengths behind the victorious Paid Up Subscriber in the 1 1/8-mile Fleur de Lis June 18, but previously won the Allaire du Pont Distaff (gr. III) at Pimlico Race Course. Trainer Neil Howard drew a line through the Churchill Downs stakes effort.

"You can look at her whole form, and I think she has maybe run one or two subpar races, which you have to give them that sometimes," Howard said. "But she has trained well for the race."

Ahh Chocolate most recently breezed five furlongs in 1:01 2/5 July 25 at Churchill. She is one of 13—only 12 can run—in the Groupie Doll, which is run at one mile around one and a half turns at the western Kentucky track.

Chris Landeros has the call aboard Ahh Chocolate, the 122-pound highweight, from post 6. Regular rider Brian Hernandez Jr. is named on several mounts the same afternoon on the West Virginia Derby (gr. II) program at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort.
