Mo Tom after Ohio Derby victory

GMB Racing's Mo Tom, entered in the Aug. 6 West Virginia Derby (gr. II), will pass on the race, trainer Tom Amoss said Aug. 4.

Amoss, via Twitter, said the Uncle Mo   colt "continues to train well" at Saratoga Race Course "but the West Virginia Derby is out. He will race later this month." The ownership group, also on Twitter, said it is "fully in agreement," and that Mo Tom would work Aug. 5.

Mo Tom won the $500,000 Ohio Derby in his last start in June. The $750,000 West Virginia Derby, at 1 1/8 miles, is the eighth race on a nine-race all-stakes program at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort.
