Difamante First Winner for Bullet Train

Crestwood Farm freshman sire Bullet Train  , a three-quarters brother to undefeated European champion and hot young sire Frankel, was represented by his first winner Aug. 6 when Difamante went from last to first in his career debut at Gulfstream Park. 

Bullet Train, a 9-year-old son of Sadler's Wells out of Kind, by Danehill, stood for a 2016 fee of $7,500 at Crestwood Farm near Lexington. He has 160 2-year-olds in his first crop. 

A Juddmonte Farms homebred like Frankel, Bullet Train won two of 14 starts for Sir Henry Cecil, also the trainer of Frankel. He was an early favorite for the 2010 Epsom Derby (Eng-I) after winning the Totesport.com Derby Trial (Eng-III) at Lingfield Park.

Luis Duco Stables' Difamante, trained by Luis Duco, was checked sharply after the start before settling at the back of the 11-horse field in race 10 on the card, a maiden special weight. Ninth nearing the home turn, he rallied five wide for the stretch run and was up in time to prevail by a half length at 27-1 odds as the only first-time starter in the field. The bay colt finished the one-mile race in 1:38.59 on firm turf.

Difamante, bred in Kentuckyby Polo Green Farm from the winning A.P. Indy mare Money Madam, dam of two stakes-placed runners, sold to Luis Duco Stables for $20,000 at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. March 2-year-olds in training sale, where De Meric Sales consigned. He sold for $40,000 as a short yearling at the 2015 OBS winter mixed sale.
