A son of The Factor purchased as a weanling for $190,000 is among the top horses to watch for during the Aug. 13 first session of the Fasig-Tipton sale of New York-bred yearlings in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Consigned by Lane’s End as Hip 384, the colt is out of winning Sky Mesa mare, Flash Act, who is out of multiple grade I winner Missy’s Mirage and is a half sister to multiple stakes winner Apprehender. The Feb. 12 foal was bought by Lane’s End Bloodstock at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November auction.
Another six-figure pinhook that could attract buyer attention is Hip 321, a Curlin colt acquired by consignor Baccari Bloodstock for $120,000 at the 2015 Fasig-Tipton New York October sale. Foaled March 25 of last year, the colt is the first foal from the winning Bluegrass Cat mare Blue Catillac, a daughter of the stakes-winning End Sweep mare Sweeping. Sweeping has produced two stakes-placed runners and is the granddam of grade III winner Aegean.
Hip 319 is an Orb colt out of French group II-placed Black Escort, a Southern Halo mare who has also produced two stakes-placed foals. Bought by F. U. N. Farm for $105,000 at the Fasig-Tipton New York October sale, the March 16 foal is part of the Taylor Made Sales Agency offerings in the New York-bred sale.
Others worthy of note are Hip 304, a Lemon Drop Kid filly who is a full sister to multiple grade II winner Hangover Kid, from the Royal Bloodstock consignment; and Hip 366, a filly from the first crop of Take Charge Indy produced from grade I winner Dr. Zic, by Milwaukee Brew. She is consigned by Select Sales.
