Mt. Brilliant's Jody Alexander Retiring

Description:

Mt. Brilliant Farm owner Greg Goodman announced Aug. 17 the retirement of farm manager Jody Alexander.

In a release Goodman referred to Alexander as the "founding" farm manager of the 760-acre property located on Huffman Mill Pike north of Lexington.

"Jody has been here from the very beginning," Goodman said. "His role in taking the land from a cattle farm to a nursery that produces winners around the globe has been immeasurable. Jody was instrumental in the original vision of Mt. Brilliant and the success we now enjoy. He is part of an incredible family of horsemen and we feel extremely fortunate for him to be our first—and to this point, only—farm manager for us. While the farm manager role will cease, we anticipate Jody serving as an adviser at the sales from time to time."

"Horses have been my past, present, and future," Alexander said in the release. "I thank the Goodman family for the confidence they showed in me during my career at Mt. Brilliant. I look forward to remaining active in the industry that has brought me where I am today."

The Goodman family has turned to another seasoned manager in the hiring of Cooper Sawyer.

"His experience at leading operations such as Mill Ridge, Lane's End, and St. George Farm bodes well for helping us build on the farm's success going forward," Goodman said.

Mt. Brilliant Farm has bred many graded winners, including Creator, winner of this year's Belmont Stakes (gr. I).
