Lopez Secures 1,000th Riding Victory

David Lopez leads Nightly News into winner's circle after this year's Turf Paradise Derby.
Jockey David Michael Lopez secured the 1,000th riding victory of his career Aug. 17 when he guided 1-9 favorite Baime to a front-running score in the eighth race at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack.
Baime, owned by his breeder Barry Schwartz and trained by Michael Ferraro, completed the six-furlong allowance race in 1:10.08.
Lopez has won eight stakes, two at Turf Paradise and six at Assiniboia Downs in Canada. He scored two stakes wins on Queen Tina in 2008 at Assiniboia and won this year's Turf Paradise Derby aboard Nightly News.
