Poof Its Magic First Winner for Zulu Magic

Michigan-based stallion Zulu Magic picked up his first winner when Poof Its Magic drew off in the stretch for a 2 1/4-length victory in his debut Aug. 19 at Hazel Park.

Poof Its Magic is the second starter for Zulu Magic, who has six foals in his first crop. The 11-year-old son of Johannesburg stood for $1,000 this season at Davidson's Tracks-N-Time in Midland, Mich. Bred in Kentucky by Bill Justice, Zulu Magic won four of 17 starts and earned $73,653 in five seasons of racing.

Trained by Reid Gross, Poof Its Magic led at every point of call under jockey Wayne Barnett and completed the four-furlong allowance race in :48.52. A homebred for Jenny Barbeau, Michigan-bred Poof Its Magic is out of the Three Wonders mare Whackthekat.
